  • Kate’s specialized expertise in crisis communications has enabled her to shape meaningful narratives and help brands and executives navigate sticky and potentially reputation-damaging circumstances with delicate and authentic messaging.

    • Managed crisis communications for Kickstarter’s leadership team through two CEO transitions, the industry’s first-ever union drive, and high-profile layoffs during the height of the 2020 pandemic.

    • Led the Center for Reproductive Rights’ response to U.S. Supreme Court anti-choice appointee Neil Gorsuch.

    • Oversaw communications strategy for NYC First Lady Chirlane McCray and served on NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio’s senior communications team, specifically building communications strategy through contentious budget negotiations, City Council hearings, and opposition attacks.

    • Drafted and placed op-ed in Refinery29 by the NYC First Lady after her personal story was misused in conservative media during the height of the #MeToo movement.

  • Kate has been sharing her lived experience with fatphobia and fat acceptance, mental health, and navigating personal relationships as a fat woman for nearly a decade. Through this work, she aims to normalize body acceptance, particularly for people in larger bodies, and combat dangerous fatphobia that remains pervasive in our society and across our institutions.

    • Served as a regular contributor to NBC on topics including the backlash Krispie Kreme received after offering free donuts for COVID-19 vaccinations, the return of the Biggest Loser, and how fat folks face discrimination in the workplace.

    • Wrote about trending topics including the controverstial drug ozempic for MSNBC and Martha Stewart’s swimsuit cover for Sports Illustrated for Bloomberg.

She carries on the tradition of her late grandmother who was a factory seamstress.
